Palm Beach Head Start/Early Head Start Program uses center-based, school-based, and family childcare home options to serve the children and families of Palm Beach County.
The program operates from 7:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m., five days a week, 10 hours per day for a full-day, and 48 weeks of the year except for federal and state holidays.
We use Children’s Services Council and State funding to supplement the cost to extend operations by 4 hours of the 10-hour day for children.

In our Head Start and Early Head Start (EHS) programs we offer a maximum of 222 days of services to infants, toddlers, and preschool age children, which equates to approximately 2,220 learning hours per child, thus exceeding the annual requirement of 1,380 hours by 62% for EHS and exceed the annual requirement of 1,020 hours by 46% in HS. In addition, we will continue our sub-recipient contract agreement with Palm Beach County School District, Hispanic Human Resource Council, and Young Women’s Christian Association (YWCA). Also, we have Childcare Partnership and Family Childcare Home contractual agreements with 5 private childcare agencies (6 locations) and 11 family childcare home providers located in the surrounding communities of Palm Beach County, Florida. The grantee serves 598 HS and 257 EHS (includes 15 expectant pregnant mothers); sub-recipients provide EHS services for 78 infants/toddlers and HS services to 887 preschool age children. The Childcare Partners provide EHS services for 40 infants/toddlers, and HS services to 220 preschool age children; and Family Childcare Home providers EHS services to 78 infants/toddlers which totals the 1,916 funded enrollment slots in Palm Beach.
LSF Children and Head Start Services currently serves over 6,000 children and families in Duval, Hillsborough, Palm Beach, and Pinellas counties, making LSF the largest nonprofit Head Start Grantee in the Southeastern United States and one of the largest in the country.
